I’ve tried multiple protein brownies over the years, especially when I was specifically looking for a solid chocolate option. Out of the four different brands I tested, this one stood out as the best in terms of chocolate flavor and overall texture.
Let’s set expectations reasonably. If you’re comparing a 22-gram protein brownie to a traditional sugar-loaded boxed brownie, they’re not going to taste the same. Adding that much protein and keeping the sugar reasonable will change the flavor profile. That’s just reality. But if you understand the purpose - a healthier, high-protein treat - these deliver.
They’re chocolatey, fudgy, and have a chewy, moist texture throughout. They don’t taste like a dry protein bar pretending to be a brownie. I eat them straight out of the wrapper most of the time, usually at my desk at work. They’re a much healthier option than anything from the vending machine. When I have the chance to warm one up, it’s even better - softer and more dessert-like - but they’re still very good unheated.
I naturally gravitate toward chocolate in general, and after trying all the flavors, I settled on chocolate because it’s simply my preference. Compared to other chocolate protein brownies I’ve tried, this one wins.
From a nutrition standpoint, 22 grams of protein is significant. I aim for around 180 grams of protein per day. Hitting 40 grams in a meal is easy. Pushing past that consistently can be harder. Having one of these - sometimes even two on busy days when I don’t feel like cooking - makes it much easier to stay on track without resorting to another shake.
For what it’s designed to be, this is an excellent product. Great flavor, great texture, and meaningful protein content. I’ll continue buying them.
